Recruitment Begins for IL Pork Future Leaders Program

As the pork industry continues to evolve, the Illinois Pork Producers Association recognizes the need to focus on the future by finding and educating young talent that will take the helm as tomorrow's leaders. Whether they serve on committees, boards or other leadership positions in the future, keeping the pork industry relevant and educating consumers is a top priority for leaders.

 

“The development of our future leaders is a critical next step to keep the industry moving forward while providing the next generation of pig farmers with the skills and expertise needed to advocate for our ever-changing industry,” says Jennifer Tirey, executive director for IPPA.

 

IPPA is looking for candidates between the ages of 25-40 for the inaugural class. Selected candidates will participate in four meetings over the course of one year. The first meeting will be held in May 2018, and will conclude at IL Pork Expo in February 2019. Applications are now available on the website www.ilpork.com. Deadline to apply is November 15th, with the selection process taking place in December. All expenses will be covered for the designated participants.

 

The annual program will highlight commercial production and encourage young leaders to get involved and be more active in the pork industry. The four meetings will focus on several aspects of the industry extending from regulations, processing, retail marketing, and farmer interaction.
