Mike is a five-year IPPA board member. He serves on the Marketing and Industry Services committees, as well as serving as chair the past two years for the Production Tech/Research committee.
He is from DeKalb County and is employed by Illini Farms. There he has a farrow-to-finish operation, both commercial production and genetic multiplication.
Mike and his wife, Gayle, have two sons, Darrin and Tyler, and three granddaughters, Brynn, Eden, and Charlee.
Being involved in IPPA has helped Mike be in closer contact with the industry, especially on the legislative and regulatory side. It has also provided him the opportunity to learn from fellow board members. If he could give advice to someone looking to get involved in the livestock industry he would say that taking care of animals is a big financial and time commitment and to make sure that they are willing to accept that commitment before expanding into livestock.
